    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (or applicable state certification).
    • Approval/endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education or Special Education appropriate for preschool-aged children.
    • Knowledge of child development, early intervention practices, and special education law.
    • Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Provides specialized instruction and support services to preschool-aged children with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Responsible for developing and implementing IEPs, monitoring student progress, collaborating with families and multidisciplinary team members, conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with special education regulations. Supports children\"s developmental, social-emotional, communication, and school-readiness skills in inclusive and specialized early childhood settings.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide direct special education instruction to preschool students eligible for ECSE services.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and objectives aligned with student needs and developmental standards.
    • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to support learning and development.
    • Adapt curriculum, materials, and classroom environments to meet diverse student needs.
    • Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to evaluate student growth and inform instruction.
    • Support student participation in inclusive preschool settings whenever appropriate.
    • Collaborate with general education preschool staff, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school psychologists, social workers, and other service providers.
    • Consult with families regarding student progress, developmental needs, and strategies to support learning at home.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations and eligibility determination meetings.
    • Serve as a resource to staff regarding early childhood special education practices and accommodations.
    • Facilitate and participate in IEP team meetings.
    • Develop compliant IEPs, present levels of performance, goals, service plans, and progress reports.
    • Maintain accurate and timely special education records, documentation, and reporting requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with IDEA, state special education regulations, district policies, and procedural safeguards.
    • Establish positive relationships with families and encourage active participation in the educational process.
    • Communicate regularly regarding student progress, services, and developmental milestones.
    • Support family understanding of special education processes and available community resources.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    SALARY: Commensurate with Teaching Contract Salary Schedule

    EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately for the 2026-27 School Year
