    POSITION: Educational Strategies Teacher - 0.4 INTERNAL

    LOCATION: P-CEP Growth Programs Department

    Plymouth-Canton is seeking to employ culturally responsive teachers who will be able to support and sustain equity-focused instruction for all learners. These educators create high achieving learning environments. They identify and systematically apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners from all racial groups.

    Educational Strategies is designed to teach students specific skills for academic success, provide structured opportunities to apply these skills with support to the work from other classes, and to provide an opportunity during the day for students to access other Tier II academic and behavioral supports. The teacher\"s role is to teach and model self-regulation and goal-directed behaviors including: Empathy, Assertive Communication, Trustworthiness, Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Healthy Boundaries, and Growth Mindset.

    Growth Programs Department is seeking two teachers to teach one or two sections of Educational Strategies each. If you are interested in teaching this class/joining the Tier II intervention team, we will coordinate with your other department to create a schedule that satisfies your FTE.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must possess a valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in grades 9-12. All subjects and certifications acceptable.

    2. Experience and success with at-risk or struggling learners preferred.

    RESPONSIBILITES:

    1. Continue to develop and implement lessons in skills for academic success.

    2. Models and maintains supportive routines for goal-directed independent work time.

    3. Facilitates academic communication between students and teachers.

    4. Participates in the administrative tasks related to students\" participation in Tier II support interventions.

    5. Monitors and records student progress toward academic goals.

    RELEVANT UNDERSTANDINGS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Awareness of the physical, social, emotional and academic development of the learner.
    • Capable of nurturing the home-school-community relationship.
    • Proficient and knowledgeable in the core subject areas.
    • Able to provide a flexible, stable and pleasant learning environment that is student-centered while maintaining appropriate classroom management.
    • Familiar with culturally relevant pedagogy and be able to include this pedagogy in his/her teaching practices.
    • Understands pertinent learning intervention practices, such as Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
    • Works collaboratively with colleagues in professional learning communities.
    • Knowledge of and practical experience in research based instructional practices.
    • Knowledge and practice with formative and summative assessments to evaluate and improve student achievement.
    • Ability to implement school district curriculum with consistency.
    • Works closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction.
    • Collaborates in grade level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.
    • Forms and maintains relationships with students\" families.
    • Participates in on-going professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.

    EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board\"s Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.

    BEGINNING DATE: 2026-2027 School Year

    SALARY: PCEA Salary Schedule

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check. The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. Cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
