Position Summary

If you are a Engineering professional with experience leading engineering support teams in water and wastewater systems or automation projects, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you. In this role, you will guide a high-performing team while strengthening customer partnerships across local water and wastewater treatment facilities in the Detroit, MI area. You will provide leadership for day-to-day engineering support, champion customer satisfaction, and drive operational excellence while contributing to innovative automation solutions that support sustainable power and water infrastructure in North America.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Provide on-site leadership, supporting daily operational and business needs
  • Lead, assign, and support the development of a team of site engineers, fostering growth and accountability
  • Deliver high-quality customer support, including system troubleshooting, field services, system startups, upgrades, and execution of smaller-scale projects
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to promote satisfaction, trust, and long-term business growth
  • Develop and implement training and development plans to prepare team members to meet evolving customer and technical needs
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Detroit Water Projects to align staffing and support resources with project schedules
  • Support estimating efforts and resource planning for future customer support and business opportunities
  • Drive effective, innovative solutions to customer challenges, strengthening Emerson’s value in the water and wastewater industry
  • Partner with customers to resolve technical, contractual, and warranty matters while balancing service excellence with business objectives
  • Promote a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement in all activities

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 8 years of experience in control systems, preferrably in Water and Wastewater
  • Experience leading field services or project engineering teams, for customer-facing projects
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% domestically
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS), with Ovation experience as a plus
  • Background in systems integration
  • Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or similar credentials
