Position Title WAREHOUSE WORKER
Position Summary
This position performs duties relating to general warehouse operations including the receipt, care, and issuance of supplies and equipment from the central warehouse facility or its storage areas. Communicates with vendors and departments to resolve shipping issues, product issues, and product returns. Conducts the pick-up, delivery, and sorting of related items, and participates in office relocations, salvage/surplus equipment transfer and disposal. This position also assembles, disassembles, and installs new and used furniture, and transfers products, equipment, documents, and materials from vendors to departments and internally within the university.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma of GED.
Two years of work experience in warehousing or stockroom operations.
Possession of valid chauffeur’s license that meets the provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Demonstrated knowledge of delivery services and moving functions.
Ability to interpret building diagrams, layouts, and moving requests.
Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
Ability to conduct appropriate mathematical analysis for warehousing and labor distribution.
Ability to maintain accurate delivery records and documentation.
Ability to effectively use a computer, including but not limited to e- mail and the internet.
Ability to complete on campus forklift certification training and operate a forklift safely and properly within 30 days of employment.
Ability to follow and/or interpret oral or written directions.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment and to provide a high level of service excellence to campus customers.

Experience assembling all lines of Steelcase systems furniture.
Experience repairing and assembling office chairs from varying manufacturers.

Duties & Responsibilities
Performs work in the following main areas: University Stores, Central Receiving, Moving/Delivery/Furniture installs, University Surplus, and serves as a backup support for the University Mailroom.
Receives, stores, and issues equipment, materials, and merchandise in a warehouse/stockroom atmosphere.
Checks incoming orders against requisitions, invoices, packing slips, etc.
Performs physical inventories.
Marks incoming and outgoing products, materials, supplies, and documents with proper identification codes and accompanying paperwork.
Prepares necessary reports and documentation.
Maintains neat and orderly work/storage areas.
Prepares for and sets up University, Salvage, Surplus, and Auction Sales.
Places freight and stock items in the proper storage areas.
Inspects incoming freight and accompanying documentation for accuracy and any signs of damage.
Documents discrepancies with incoming freight.
Loads and unloads shipments and deliveries.
Delivers and assembles merchandise, furniture, and equipment.
Delivers goods to campus departments, including but not limited to office furnishings, supplies and equipment.
Completes moving and delivery requests as directed.
Completes routine vehicle inspections and logs.
Cases mail for efficient route delivery.
Picks up and delivers mail, including certified, registered, insured, and express mail from the US Post Office and other off campus facilities; this includes obtaining signatures upon delivery, when required.

About the Department
