- JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Employees in this classification will be stationed at a designated school crossing during the time periods of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. when school is in session.While on duty, the school crossing guard will wear a designated regulation vest and assist pedestrians crossing a street or highway to and from school, stopping vehicular traffic when necessary with a hand held STOP sign. This employee will, under the training and supervision of the Livonia Police Traffic Bureau, work with school Safety Patrol members.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION PROCESS
At the time of application, an applicant must:
- Be a citizen of the United States, or a resident alien with the right to work in the United States, and
- Be 18 years of age or older; and
- Have a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate; and
- Have acceptable hearing and visual acuity
Previous employment with public contact is highly desirable.- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow departmental policy
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees and to deal tactfully with the public
