Job Description


This position serves as the recognized resource for the Alpena Transportation Service Center's (TSC's) maintenance contracts responsible for managing/monitoring contractors and contracts; coordinating testing and repairs; and completing inspections. Additionally, this position is required to participate in the Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) Work Element Program, travel with crews in an assigned geographic area, and travel throughout the TSC area. This position is subject to seasonal reassignment for winter maintenance activities. Operate a vehicle or vehicle/trailer combination with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more (e.g., snowplows) when performing maintenance operations.


The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Transportation Maintenance Worker 9 position.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience
Three years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker E8.

Additional Requirements and Information

To be considered for this position you must:

  • Transportation Maintenance Worker: Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at the time of appointment to the position. Continuing employment requires possession of a CDL Group A with N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions which must be obtained within 12 months from the date of hire into the position and maintained throughout employment in the position.
  • Transportation Maintenance Worker 9: The MDOT Statewide Work Element Coordinator must approve satisfactory completion of the MDOT TMW Work Element training and certification program.
  • Possess Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Certification or obtain within 12 months from the date of hire into the position.
